An innovative mindfulness-based approach to acting and living more consciously. 

Mindfulness - is the ability to perceive the present moment in a kind way. In doing so, thoughts, sensations and emotions are perceived more consciously. This is practiced with the help of breath awareness, light movement exercises, meditations and small tasks for everyday life.

History of breathworks

breathworks was founded in 2004 in the UK by Vidyamala Burch and two colleagues. The program is based on Vidyamala's own experience of dealing with chronic pain, with which she has lived in a wheelchair since several accidents (the first in 1976).

The course is accompanied by the book "Pain-free Through Mindfulness", which familiarizes participants step by step with the background of the individual concepts. In the meantime, there are numerous scientific studies on the effectiveness of mindfulness on pain and disease. The book explains some interesting aspects of a regular practice.

Course procedure

Eight week format with weekly two hour sessions (online format, otherwise two and a half hours) and a practice day of 4 hours.

Core elements of the program

  • Topic-specific short presentations
